The OSF Holy Family Clinics office is
located on the campus of OSF Holy Family Medical Center and is staffed by seven physicians,
one surgeons, three physician assistants, and a team of nurses and support staff.
The unique feature of the
OSF Holy Family Clinics is our convenient, extended hours - we are open 24 hours a day, seven

Our Medical Staff:

James Battenburg, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., is a Diplomat with the American Board of Family Practice and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, and earned his Medical Degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, East Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Battenburg is Board Certified in Family Practice. He enjoys spending time with his wife and six children and he enjoys sailing, jet skiing, scuba diving and traveling.

Barbara Cree, P.A.-C., is a Certified Physician Assistant and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Cree received her Associates degree from Victor Valley Community College in Victorville, California and her Physician Assistant Certification from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Ami Herbstrith, D.P.M., specializes in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery with special interests in diabetic foot care and sports medicine. She manages and coordinates the
OSF Holy Family Podiatry Clinic. She earned her undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois and earned her medical degree from the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. She completed her post-graduate training through Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, where she was most recently the Chief Resident of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. She is a member in good standing with the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association.

Gary L. Jennett, M.D., is Board Certified in Family Practice. Dr. Jennett earned his Medical Degree from the University of Iowa. He completed his internship and residency the Broadlawn's Medical Center in Des Moines Iowa. He most recently practiced in Ottumwa and has recently relocated to Monmouth with his wife and family. Dr. Jennett brings extensive experience to
OSF Holy Family in both Emergency Medicine and Family Practice.

Kevin Kusler, P.A.-C., is a Physician Assistant and is also certified in advanced cardiac life support. Kusler is also currently certified as a Medical Laboratory Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
He received a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Physician Assistant from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He was on the College of Science Dean’s List, was a member of the Honor Society, and was also on the National Dean’s List during all four of his years at Southern Illinois University. Prior to his employment at the
OSF Holy Family Clinics, Kusler worked as Medical Laboratory Superintendent for the Illinois Air National Guard in Springfield, Illinois. Kusler is also the recipient of three Air Force Achievement Medals and a Good Conduct Medal.

Frank Lasala, M.D., Frank Lasala, M.D. is board Certified in both family Practice and Geriatric Medicine. He graduated from Rush Presbyterian University College of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He brings several years of medical experience to the hospital and to the
OSF Holy Family Clinics.

Ruben Medrano, M.D., is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has a special training and extensive experience in treating patients with allergies. Dr. Medrano earned his Medical Degree from the University of LaPlata in Argentina. He completed an internship and his residency from Northeastern Ohio Universities and Aultman Hospital, Canton, Ohio. Dr. Medrano speaks both English and Spanish. He lives in Monmouth with his wife and two sons and enjoys playing soccer.

Robert Padgett, M.D., C.A.P., F.A.A.F.P., is Board Certified in Family Practice. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. Dr. Padgett earned his undergraduate degree from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and earned his Medical Degree from the Ross University in New York. He completed his residency through the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria and Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. He lives in Monmouth with his wife and four children. He enjoys playing the bass guitar, woodworking, and spending time in the outdoors.

Victoria Popela, D.O., is Board Certified in Family Practice and Geriatrics. Dr. Popela received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Illinois Benedictine College, Lisle, Illinois, and completed her studies in Geriatric Administration at Roosevelt University, Chicago. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine/Midwestern University. In addition to Family Practice and Geriatrics, she is board eligible in Pain Management. She has medical interest in complementary and alternative medicine and practices acupuncture. Dr. Popela works for
OSF Holy Family Medical Center as the Vice President of Clinical Operations, Hospitalist and as a physician in the
OSF Holy Family Clinics. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their four dogs. One of Dr. Popela’s dogs is a trained therapy dog.

William Sippo, M.D., F.A.C.S., is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and as well as in Surgical Critical Care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of numerous medical associations including the American Medical Association, the Association for Academic Surgery and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He earned his Medical Degree from the Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee and completed his residency at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Judy Wakeland, P.A.-C., a certified Physician Assistant, will be working with the new coordinator of the
OSF Holy Family Women’s Health Clinic once recruitment of that physician is completed, and will be spending three days a week seeing patients in the soon-to-be-opened branch of the
OSF Holy Family Clinics in Roseville. Wakeland comes to the OSF Holy Family Clinics after working in Aledo for 27 years. She received her Physician Assistant Certification from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1998. Wakeland was a registered nurse from 1972 to 1997. It was in that capacity that she on two occasions worked for
the former Community Medical Center in Monmouth, first serving in the OB and Medical Surgical departments, then later in the Emergency department.

Financial Information
Full payment
for all fees and co-payments are expected at the time of service. We will take
care of billing Medicare, Medicaid or your insurance for you. Please have your
insurance or other payment information available at the time of your appointment.

Walk-ins
are always welcome. Between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., Clinic patients
are seen in OSF Holy Family Medical Center's Emergency Department, but are billed at
the lower Clinic rates.
Physicians on the OSF Holy Family medical staff have been granted privileges to provide medical
and surgical care to patients at OSF Holy Family Medical Center. Some physicians on
the medical staff are employees of the hospital, but other physicians are independent
physicians with no employment relationship with the hospital. To determine whether
your physician is employed by the hospital or is an independent physician, you
may contact OSF Holy Family Administration at 309-734-1400.
