Center – formerly Community Medical Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(April 11, 2007 Monmouth, IL) On March 27th the Illinois Health
Facilities Planning Board approved the Change of Ownership Application
for OSF Healthcare System to acquire Community Medical Center of Western
Illinois. Tomorrow the final documents are expected to be signed that
will transfer the assets of CMC to OSF Healthcare System and at that
time the name will be officially changed to OSF Holy Family Medical
Center. Likewise, the name for CMC Clinics will be changed to OSF Holy
Family Clinics.
There will be a Blessing and Dedication of OSF Holy Family Medical
Center on Friday, April 20th. The Most Reverend Bishop Daniel R. Jenky
will preside at this ceremony which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
Participating in this special occasion will be the leadership of OSF
Healthcare System including Sister Judith Ann, O.S.F. Chairperson of OSF
Healthcare System, Mr. Kevin Schoeplein, Executive Vice President of OSF
who was the lead organizer for OSF in this transaction and Mr. Don
Brown, formerly CEO of CMC and now Administrator of OSF Holy Family
Medical Center who served as the Medical Center’s lead organizer as well
as Doctor Victoria Popella who is the Chief Medical Officer for OSF Holy
Family.
The Blessing and Dedication will be open to the public and will be
followed by a reception.
OSF Holy Family Medical Center, formerly known as Community Medical
Center, is located in Monmouth, IL; about 15 miles west of Galesburg.
The medical complex includes a critical access hospital, a physicians’
clinic as well as an extended care facility. OSF Holy Family employs 269
people all of whom will be retained in their current positions at their
present salaries. The Medical Center was founded in 1897.
OSF HealthCare, owned and operated by The Sisters of the Third Order
of St. Francis, Peoria, Illinois, includes OSF Healthcare System
consisting of seven acute care facilities, one long-term care facility
and two colleges of nursing. It also has a primary care physician
network consisting of 194 physicians and 48 mid-level providers, known
as OSF Medical Group. OSF HealthCare owns OSF Saint Francis, Inc.,
comprised of healthcare-related businesses, and OSF Healthcare
Foundation, the philanthropic arm of OSF Healthcare System and OSF Home
