Bone Density Testing
The state-of-the-art GE LUNAR Bone Densitometer is used to diagnose patients with osteoporosis. The highly sensitive densitometer at OSF Holy Family identifies the Bone Mineral Density (BMD) or bone loss throughout the body including the hip and lumbar spine. Evening appointments are available.

OSF Holy Family Foundation
The OSF Holy Family Foundation began in 1996 to provide financial support to OSF Holy Family Medical Center. The funds received through the Foundation are used to purchase medical equipment and for special projects to support the services of the hospital. Contributors to the Foudation include employees, other individuals, businesses and foundations. Membership into the Foundation is extended to those who make gifts to OSF Holy Family of $100 or more. Monetary gifts to the hospital can be given through the Foundation, through memorials or other gift opportunities. Since the hospital is a not-for-profit organization, contributions to OSF Holy Family are tax deductible.

OSF Holy Family Clinics
The OSF Holy Family Clinics provides family medical care including treatment and diagnosis of illnesses or injuries, annual physicals, immunizations and other medical care to patients of all ages. We are open 24-hours a day and evening appointments are available. We also accept walk-in patients.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
The OSF Holy Family Cardiac Rehabilitation offers monitored rehabilitation programs in Cardiac (Phase II and III) and Pulmonary. An optional adult fitness program is also available. The exercise equipment available includes Airdynes, Treadmills, Concept II rowers, Nustep, free weights and Nautilus for strength training.

Computed Tomography (CT)
The OSF Holy Family Diagnostic Imaging Department offers all types of general CT exams including CT guided biopsy procedures. Our GE HiSpeed NX/i Multi-Slice Scanner uses a state-of-the-art interface to produce up to three times faster scans, thinner more accurate high resolution slices, and the ability to manipulate the image data. The OSF Holy Family Diagnostic Imaging Department uses the latest technology for X-rays and diagnostic tests and screenings. Our comprehensive services include General Radiography, Mammography, CT scanning, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Densitometry, Ultrasound, Digital Fluoroscopy and Mobile MRI. Emergency Services
OSF Holy Family provides 24-hour emergency care. Our specially trained team of physicians, physician assistants and nurses are available to triage and provide emergency medical care to people of all ages. They work with other OSF Holy Family professionals such as the lab and diagnostic imaging staff to diagnose and treat accident victims, heart attack patients and trauma patients.

Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery
The OSF Holy Family Surgery Center includes three surgery suites for both inpatient and outpatient surgeries. Many area physicians perform surgeries at OSF Holy Family including orthopedic procedures, cataract surgeries, gynecological procedures, urological procedures, general surgery and ear, nose and throat procedures such as tonsillectomies and ear tubes. Specialized equipment such as arthroscopic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic modalities and sentinel node equipment are available.

Lifeline gives you the confidence and freedom to live on your own. Because there is always someone standing by to help whenever you need it - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at the press of a button. If you need help, you simply press your lightweight; waterproof help button to activate a small in-home unit called a communicator. It puts you in touch with a caring Lifeline Monitor who talks to you to find out what kind of help you need. If you do need help, we'll call the right kind of help for you. Long-term Care
OSF Holy Family has a total of 45 beds for long-term care residents who need assistance with their daily living skills. Our goal for the long-term care resident is to provide the care and treatment necessary for each person to live as full and independent a life as his or her condition allows.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
OSF Holy Family uses the GE Signa 1.5T mobile Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment to provide patients with superior image quality for precision diagnosis. The MRI is a revolutionary technology that provides detailed pictures of the body without radiation. Computer-generated images clearly show healthy and diseased tissue in the brain, spine, joints and many other parts of the body.

Certified Nuclear Medicine technologist performs imaging of various areas of the body using nuclear medicine procedures. Whole body bone scanning, thyroid scanning and cardiac perfusion imaging are some of the exams available.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is a service provided to individuals who have difficulty performing daily activities such as dressing or bathing secondary to physical or mental limitations. Our Occupational Therapist also treats a variety of conditions related to injuries of the upper limbs/hands, including neurological, rheumatoid, and orthopedic conditions. These services are available to inpatient, outpatient, skilled, and home health clients.

Dr. Victoria Popela offers a multidisciplinary pain center for the patient with chronic pain problems through The Pain Alternative at OSF Holy Family. As a physician specialist in acupuncture, osteopathic manipulation, behavior health and pain management, Dr. Popela utilizes traditional and alternative methods of healing to assist the patient to control their pain and take control of their life.

Patient Advocate
The OSF Holy Family Patient Advocate serves as a liaison between patients and the hospital staff and assists patients in interpreting the hospital's policies and procedures. The Patient Advocate visits with our patients to ensure that their hospital stay is as pleasant as possible. Serving as a representative through whom patients may voice their problems and concerns, the Patient Advocate assists the staff to gain awareness of patients' perceptions of their hospital experience.

Physical Therapy
The Physical Therapy Department offers services to inpatients as well as outpatients, skilled patients and home health clients. Physical Therapists provide a hands-on approach to evaluating and treating a variety of orthopedic and neurological problems. Therapists provide treatment including exercise for strengthening and stretching, modalities to relieve pain and spasm, and functional training to restore independent, pain-free mobility.

Respite Care
Respite Care visitors come for a temporary stay while the family caregiver takes a break. Respite breaks offer the caregiver the opportunity to revitalize their energies and can strengthen a family’s ability to care for the family member at home. The length of a respite visit can vary from a couple of days to a few weeks.

Skilled Nursing and Swing Beds
Our skilled nursing patients are people who need further care beyond the acute care hospital. For example, patients with skilled nursing needs such as IV therapy, Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy. Skilled nursing patients may stay with us for a few days or several weeks, as needed. Swing beds are acute care beds that can be used for the same purposes as skilled nursing beds, if needed. We offer Medicare certified skilled nursing care.

Speech Therapy
Speech Therapy is available for patients who have difficulty speaking, swallowing or with memory skills. The Speech/Language Pathologist provides treatment for communication disorders and diagnostic testing such as swallowing studies.
